Hello. My name is Joe Edwards. I gave your dealership a one star review that can be seen here. I did not think it could get worse, but here I am. I was forced by my leasing company to bring the car back and you guys really screwed me over this time. I dropped the car off at 9:15am with the understanding that it could be here all day. I never received an update. I started calling to get an update at 5pm today. I ended up calling nine times in total and did not get any type of answer until I showed up at the dealership and demanded that I get my car back. Earnest was the service person this time and he actually lied right to me suggesting that I gave permission to have the car be here overnight. That is preposterous. I need the car for work tomorrow and the following day. I never would have agreed to that. Not one call was made to me even though I was promised an update. Is it standard procedure for you to keep a car overnight without notifying the customer? Again I find that preposterous. Needless to say I will never come back here for any type of service and I will be giving this dealership another bad review as soon as I can. I ended up having to argue with people here in order to get my car. This really is amongst the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Based on everything I have seen from this dealership I assume this email will end up in the trash immediately. I just thought you should know (whoever you are) that your place of business is just that bad. I will be contacting the owner as well FYI.

Thank you VW Kearney Mesa. DESTROYED my lovely little car. My electric roof stopped working. It got jammed in a semi open position. I had the car towed to a 3rd party garage on may 19th. On may 22nd they informed me they garage told me had managed to close the roof but couldn't fix it as they didn't have the correct tools. At this point the car was fully drivable apart from the roof didn't work, but cosmetically it was good. They advised me to take it to VW as they could fix it with the correct tools. I dropped it off and VW did a video of the car with an estimate of $10,000. I negotiated with them just for the roof that it would be in fully working order for $4200, all in, taxes, roof fixed and cosmetically the same as when i took it in. They agreed, so i signed off on the work. After 1 week they still hasn't got back to me, so, i called and was told, we need to order parts which would take a week to arrive. That week came and went, after me chasing them, i was informed, we need more parts, so it's going to take another 2 weeks. Week 3 came and still no call back, i called and was told, they couldn't figure out what the issue was but they suspect the hydraulic pump wasn't working, the service guy on the phone said, and i quote " i hope you're sitting down". A new pump is $4000. I was flabbergasted and told him, no way is that happening. I was advised i could buy one online and bring it to them and they would install it. The service tech even gave me the website to get it from in Oregon. I ordered a refurbished hydraulic pump which cost $850, and i would send the old one to that company and they would reimburse me $200. VW installed it and i was contacted by the service manager to say, your car is ready for collection. We are now at week 6 people. I got to the garage and sat in the office and the service manager said, ok, you need to pay us the $4200 for your car. I said, i want to see my car first before i give you anything, i do not trust these people at all. This is when i saw the car and was totally shocked. I couldn't believe they had ripped my car apart and were trying to get me to just drive it away in the condition that it was in, saying it was fixed. The roof went up but the sunroof still didn't work. I was then told, oh, by the way, it won't close properly as the other garage has twisted the roof chassis and it would need a new roof entirely. Only $11,000 !!!! I told them, they had agreed to fix my car for $4200 and there was no way i was paying them for that. They doubled back and said, the tracks on the roof are misaligned as the other garage had damaged it. I reminded them that i had the quote from the other garage stating that fact but NOW they are just finding that out.. and telling me it's more money. At this point, we are at week 8. I refused to pay them any money and was told by the service manager that they would not release my car to me unless i paid for the work done. I asked, what work did you do? They said they fixed the roof. But it was still broken and the car was wrecked. His answer was, well it was broken when you brought it in to us. Which is why i brought it to you too fix, we had an agreement for $4200 you would have my electric for working properly and the car would cosmetically look like it did when i gave it to you. The service Manager offered me the trade in blue book price for my vehicle of $7,800 trade in price and i told him no, give me the full blue book price for destroying my car. He refused saying it was already broke when i gave it to them. They lied on multiple occasions to me and made attempted to pass on the blame to me saying the car cosmetically wasn't in a good condition when i gave it to them. Lies... long story short, this has been going on for 8 weeks and i wanted it finished. I ended up paying $3000 for them destroying my car, not too mention parts which were ordered by never used, and received a check for $5000 for my car.

Disappointed in this dealership's sales practices and it's a reminder that you have to be vigilant when purchasing from a dealership because they will always try to sneak in additional charges. Although I signed it, they have you sign probably around 20 documents and rush you through them so I took the sale person's word when I shouldn't have. Additionally the whole process took over 3 hours. My husband recently purchased a car from Carvana - no waiting 3 hours, no deceptive sales people and no hidden charges.

I would give zero stars to this dealer. Got here today to purchase a Volkswagen GTI manual transmission. the dealership was empty I got approached by a sales guy name “J” or “Jay” no effort whatsoever to show the car nor he had the keys to show the vehicle. Upon asking to check the inside test drive the car I was told to purchase the car first. I have never in a million years heard that. I have been a Volkswagen owner for years, after today’s experience I might change my mind or just go electric with a Tesla.

This VW service center has always taken care of my TDI Sport wagon. Service manager Eduardo was excellent. He advised me regularly during the servicing of my car. I will request Jim every time when the wagon needs something done as I have 108,000 miles on the car. The agency spotlessly clean, coffee was good and available, the chairs were clean and comfortable, I could watch the news on a nice big TV while I waited for my ride back home. Finance Team at this dealership is the worst , They are cheaters and do what they can to steal your money. When I got my car , they convinced me to buy additional services which I was reluctant but they confirmed that if I don’t use any of the services , It will go towards my principal at the end of the loan term and this will cover part replacements if any which I never did. Segunda vez que vengo aeste lugar y ambas ocasiones fue pésima experiencia. La primera vez fue por el mal trato de un empleado e incluso hablé con el GM Steven Tylor pero solo me dio por mi lado, dijo que le haría servicio de alineación gratuito a mi auto (solo lo dijo no me lo dio por escrito) y cuando lo contacte para agendar el servicio nunca me respondió. El día de hoy llegué con cita para las 10:20am, la persona asiático que recibió mi carro me dijo que a él no le tocaba pero que lo iba a recibir y que aproximadamente en 2 horas estaría listo, ingresó mi auto bajo el nombre y placas de otra persona de otro carro, le informé y supuestamente él corrigió mis datos. Pasaron las 2 horas todas las personas que llegaron después que yo ya se fueron, fui a preguntar y me dice Ricardo que están en lunch que después de lunch lo van a empezar, le comenté que yo llegué con cita y me dijeron que máximo 2 horas estaría aquí, a lo que respondió "todos están aquí con cita, estamos algo atrasados". Dijo que iba a tratar de hacer que pasaran mi carro primero ¿¡!?. En fin me fui a sentar de nuevo, puse el temporizador con una hora, habían pasado ya 36 minutos cuando vino a decir que ya habían llevado el carro para que le cambién el aceite y filtro. También verifiqué los datos de mi auto y mi nombre y siguen equivocados en su sistema cuando supuestamente ya los han corregido por 3ra vez. Sigo aquí esperando es la 1 :16 y apenas la aplicación de Volkswagen aún me dice que el cofre del carro está abierto. Es decir, 3 y media horas después de que llegué, apenas van a empezar a cambiar el aceite y el filtro. ¿Para qué agendan citas si no pueden con el trabajo? Habemos personas que tenemos que esperar por el auto y que en base a la cita y el tiempo de espera indicado al entregar el carro hacemos nuestro horario para el resto del día, se necesita con urgencia respeto por el tiempo de los clientes. Si no pueden cumplir su palabra y entregar los autos en el tiempo indicado, NO agenden trabajo de más o contraten más mecánicos para que ustedes puedan cumplir. Desafortunadamente para vehículos nuevos no tengo la herramienta ni el equipo para hacerlo en casa. Ni caso de quejarse con el GM porque no hace nada. Si te llegas a quejar con el GM= gerente general y te promete algo, pideselo por escrito, porque a sus palabras se las lleva el viento. Bueno, El temporizador marca 2:43 minutos para que se cumpla la otra hora en que me dijeron estaría mi auto listo y no está, ¿esperaré otra hora extra o serán 2 más?. Tiempo total en el dealer Volkswagen en Kearny Mesa sobre Balboa Ave 3 horas 45 minutos y contando. A la 1:35 PM recibo un mensaje de texto diciendo "Raúl...bla bla bla" I'm not Raúl, the Jetta isn't my car!!! Son las 2:51pm y recibí una llamada del departamento de compras de este lugar haciendo una oferta por un Jetta, le dije que no me llame porque yo no fui a vender mi auto fui a que le hicieran un cambio de aceite y el asiático que recibió mi auto se equivocó y puso los datos de otro carro bajo mis datos personales, a lo que muy ruda y grosera me respondió "yo no trabajo en el departamento de servicio yo llamé porque usted vino está mañana y para hacerle una oferta porque queremos comprar su vehículo, si no le interesa puedo poner aquí que no le interesa " acto seguido me cuelga la tipeja grosera

Actually the back wheels were significantly out and the tires were unevenly worn. Again, took it to another shop for fixing. Really do not want to buy another VW due to the really poor servicing. One guy a VW told me they were really short of staff. Well that does not justify poor quality.

My new car purchase experience with Kearny Mesa was seamless! I first inquired about the Atlas Cross Sport 3.6L V6 with 4Motion advertised on sale on Saturday morning. Christian called me right away and answered my initial questions, sent me additional pictures, and provided a reply to my lease terms/price I was looking for. They were able to beat the initial terms I outlined. After obtaining credit pre-approval online, I drove from the Palm Springs area to San Diego on Sunday to test drive the vehicle. Christian had the vehicle parked up front ready for me to test drive (along with my second choice that I never even looked at!) The V6 has some giddy-up! I loved the drive! Told them to, "Wrap it up--I'll take it!" So JJ prepared the initial paperwork and I signed the contract with Mike in Finance—I was done at 3:30 pm! After their 2-3 day window, I called at the end of day 4 to ask what the status on my car was and after they realized they messed up they got right on it. Note, I was told there would be a $177.50 non-refundable fee for the technician looking at my car, that's fine (it goes towards the service cost). I then receive a bill of an outrageous amount to replace it, which was expected from a dealer over an independent mechanic but I had no other choice unless I wanted to tow my car. I explain to the person on the phone that I wanted an estimate before any diagnostic was done and still never received one.. almost 5 days after my car was dropped off. Estimates are helpful in case I can get it towed to a cheaper mechanic and save hundreds of dollars, performing the diagnostic first robs me of the ability to do so. I had received 5 messages at this point of the dealer wanting to purchase/give me an offer on my car before I got one message (that I had to constantly persist for) about my vehicle's service status. The reason my experience wasn't a 1 was because I was given 15% off at the very end due to my prolonged experience. It was a nice gesture but I will never go back here for anything.

We test drove a 2017 GTI that we were very ready to purchase. When we sat down to talk price with JJ, he informed us that the actual price was higher due to dealer additions. True Coat from “Fargo” comes to mind. Two dealer adds for $250 each. So the price was higher than Auto Trader (“we can’t control their pricing”) and instead of reducing the $20K price, it actually went up. And JJ was not helpful, personable or friendly. We selected a car to purchase, they would not provide a contract for our Credit Union, only wanted us to use their financing or bring cash. Made it tough on us. The discussion became so difficult, purchasing a vehicle there was a waste of time. They were very polite but apparently they have their rules on which they would not budge. Our financing was 4.03% for 7 years (we have excellent credit). Their financing was higher and not acceptable to us.

Have to change my rating which was 5 for sales to 1 which is for service and after sales experience. I had my first servicing done with them couple weeks ago and I see some scratches on the door. Edgar then stated "I don't know what else he wants me to show you, if you already know the price of the vehicle". Danny then finally came over to further delay my test drive, by restating how my out of state credit union might be a problem. In which I do not understand why it would be a problem at all. At this point I was beginning to get frustrated because I felt as if Danny did not want to waste time on me simply because I am young, which does not make sense because I was pre approved and ready to purchase. It also seems that Danny was coming up with any excuse for me to test drive a vehicle. I do not understand why a customer needs to be sat down and given the "out the door price" simply to test drive a vehicle. This was not my first rodeo at a dealership, but this was definitely my worst experience. I felt as if I was profiled for someone who could not afford a vehicle and that Danny did not want to give me the time of day.

Thought they were great at first. Spoke to a few people there. Then told me that there were pretty much only two cars that I could choose from and that they had to be brand new. Neither of the cars interested me at all. One was even too small and low to the ground for me. Im a tall person. It was a horrible experience. The car that I wanted originally was still there! But they tried to really get over and were very pushy. So I left there without a a car still. But that's okay. I went to another volkswagen dealership. This dealer bombastically advertised a used 2019 Tiguan all over the net while the car was not even ready to be shown!!! When I contacted the dealer on Saturday the internet sales personal mentioned the car won't be ready until Tuesday due to changing tires and some parts. She kinda insinuated that I could purchase the car and later pick it up without test driving. I don't know who's crazy enough to do that in the first place??!! Later she contacted me on Saturday evening saying the car is ready, I was dumbstruck beyond belief. I agreed to show up early Sunday morning to do the test drive. She also made it sound like that there are a bunch of people ready to jump and gobble-up the car if I didn't show up. The way she worded was "first come first serve ". Lo and behold, after driving for 40 miles to get to the dealership early in the morning after waiting for half an hour she stated the car went back for detailing and there will be NO test drive!!! I clearly stated that I am driving from North County and I was adamant to test drive the car. Long story short, after I expressed my displeasure for not being able to test drive her attitude was totally nonchalant knowing there will be other buyers in this crazy used car market to gobble up her xx. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone and if you have some respect for yourself don't let them treat you as an Insignificant buyer. They should earn your respect and your business not the other way around.

I’m never buying a Volkswagen again! My Passat TDI broke in September 2020, and it is at the patio of the dealership Volkswagen Kearny Mesa waiting for parts until now. This week will complete 8 months that a car under warranty can’t get fixed, because they have no parts. What good is a brand that can’t supply parts for a car under warranty? The worst part is, the car is being destroyed by the weather and for not turning the engine on for so long. It is at the patio of the dealership, and when I get it back, if I get it, will be probably a piece of garbage. And it’s not only that, I called multiple times the dealership and they still don’t have an ETA for the parts that are under warranty. They treated me very bad, even they being on the wrong, and never returned my calls. I tried to contact Volkswagen customer service as well, and nothing was solved. They don’t want to buy my car back, and also don’t have idea of when my problem will be solved. I used to work as a Lyft driver, so I’m not able to work with that ever since. At the beginning I thought, my car will be ready in a week, so I’ll just wait for that. The week become a month, so I started using my savings, thinking that it would be ready right on. Well, after 6 months all my savings were gone, and finding a job during the pandemic it was very difficult, since I’m doing an MBA, and I have classes during the day. After my savings were all gone, I had to ask for my family help, it’s humiliating. Volkswagen know all about that, and they don’t care. They simply don’t care about their customers. Volkswagen destroyed my life! And it is also destroying the environment! They lied about the carbon emission of this particular car, because they are greedy, and the only think they want is money! Do they care for their customers? Do they care for the environment? The answer is, definitely NO. So, think twice about giving your money for a company that does nor care about you and the environment! Think twice before buying something that when it breaks, it can’t get fixed! They have a cool system for notifying you of their findings and estimates for the work. You’re notified via text with a link that launches the site. You have the ability to choose which repairs or maintenance items you wish done at that particular visit. I really appreciated that my service advisor, Tina ensured that the $515 camshaft-timing issue was covered by the PZEV warranty. Also I was pleasantly surprised to see that they applied a 20% discount without me asking. I believe that was a coupon they had going at the time. Unlike other VW dealerships, VW of Kearny Mesa does not wash your vehicle’s exterior when it’s serviced.

Bought a 2014 Ford focus with the money I saved during my time in the Marine corp. Two months later after leaving the Marines and driving to my new job in Flagstaff, AZ my cars transmission failed. I explained to the VWoA rep the situation and was told I would get a call end of day Wednesday. The Costumer care rep calls and lets me know he can not get a hold of their service department, despite calling multiple times to get an update on the situation. Thursday, he informs me that the modification to my engine couldn't have caused the blank screen on the infotainment displays but, I would have to authorize a $140 fee for the dealership to physically check the cables to my infotainment center for tampering. They simply did not want to do the work under warranty. Thankfully the VWoA costumer care rep informed me if they found issues they would send a regional tech to inspect, magically I received a text stating its covered under CPO warranty and parts will arrive Monday the 6th of May. The dealerships service rep let me know even if I had an aftermarket sub woofer they would deny the warranty. This dealership has the worst costumer service I have experienced. I have finally received my car back, but I will NEVER bring it back here. The icing on the cake was when I picked up the car the key fob wasn't working unless I held it up to the sensor, the technician failed to notify the service rep and even claimed to swap out the battery. (not to mention they removed my dash cam and it was wedge under the passenger seat) I got home remove the battery and put it back in and magically the key fob works as intend. The Service techs are snakes. This dealership has a good overall rating but has gone downhill fast according to recent ratings.

Completely shocked! We were being helped by a very nice salesman who forgyot to tell us the prices are completely non negotiable. The manager who we felt is not very customer oriented and felt like he was talking down to us. The car had a crack in the windshield which had spider legs all round it and he said he will have them repair not replace the window. I’ve had many cracked windshields and know that this for sure will become much bigger in time. He said he would only repair it and if down the road it became bigger they would fix it. Why not just fix it??? It is a LARGE crack. We ended up leaving without the car because the manager wouldn’t hear of coming down on the price at the least. The next day received a text from them asking if we found a car yet. I said no but If they brought the price down $500 and fixed the windshield we would come today pay cash. They declined our offer. Later in the day my family and I talked and decided if we pay full price for the car then it shouldn’t be a problem for them to fix the crack in the windshield. We are offering FULL price. The manager was rude and short and said NO. I’m just very surprised that they would try to sell this car with a crack in the windshield. Anyone who would look at it can see how bad it is even our salesperson admitted it had spiderlegs that will spread. We are buying a car for my 16 year old daughter and this is a definite safety issue. Just commen sense and safety. Very disappointed in dealership and this manager. The original salesperson was really nice but this manager definetly tainted the whole dealership. Josue Centella you definetly need better customer service skills. I have contacted the owner Steve but never heard back I purchased a 2015 VW Touareg on August 18 2018. First I had a trade-in for a 2007 Mercedes GL450. Finally after a long time I go see the Finance guy who tries to sell me tinted windows. The car already had tinted windows....Now Extended warrantee crap please understand this was VW Certified CAR with 24000 two year complete coverage! So this is a VW Certified Car but when I drove it it had a funky smell and the steering wheel shook badly. How can this be a certified VW with wheel that shake?? So they rebalanced the wheels but no cabin filter in stock so they wanted to send it to me to install myself....then take to a dealer to install....then they found a cabin filter so it was going to be installed. Then they bring car out but still has stains on headliner that was supposed to be fixed back to detailer 35 min later, NOW after 4 1/2 hours I finally get the car and drive home but noticed that the car still had bad smell. So I go out and spend 32$ on a new filter. Removed the lower glove box and opened the filter to find that in fact the CABIN FILTER WAS NEVER CHANGED. It smelled and was not replaced during the VE Certified inspection. I have included a copy of the service record that show that it was replaced but was NOT REPLACED. Service advisor Zachary Scott.

The guys were nice, effective, reasonable, and did not pull the "I'll ask my manager crap." I cannot believe that Kearny Mesa walked away from a 3.8% drop asking price.

I scheduled an appointment with Kearny Mesa Volkswagen for the first thing this morning, 0700, with the expectations that if I was there first thing in the morning the oil change shouldn't take too long. I arrived at 0645 to make sure I was there and try to get in as early as I could. I was understandably told they weren't ready just yet and that I could wait and that there was coffee in the waiting room. At 0705 I watched them drive my car into the shop. I waited and as time slowly went by I found myself periodically checking my phone to clock how long it took for an oil change. At 0747 I took a mental note that it had been 42 minutes and still no sign of my car being done. At 0802 I finally went to the desk and asked how much longer, I was told my car was just finishing up, so I paid and asked to quickly get my car back so I could get to work since it's a Friday. The service department took until 0809 to get the keys in my hand. Kearny Mesa Volkswagen service department took 64 minutes for a routine oil change. I understand that an oil change isn't the highest priority or the largest profit margin for the service department, but nonetheless I am a paying customer who, especially on a weekday, needed to get my car serviced and get to work. This is truly a disappointing and sub-par service I received. An oil change at my house would take less than an hour, so paying a professional for the service should take significantly less time. Kearny Mesa Volkswagen service center showed no personal care of my time or vehicle as they wasted over an hour of my day, when other oil service professionals can finish in less than 20 minutes, and proceeded to tell me they recommend more service done to my car. I understand that an oil change isn't the best maintenance for business, but my time is important to me and to disrespect that is nothing short of offensive. Their services are extremely overpriced, the department takes entirely too long and I would high recommend everyone to go somewhere else for any and all maintenance.

I recently had my Gti in service at VW Kearny Mesa and I was extremely impressed with their service. The shuttle service was prompt, I didn't even wait for 5 mins. Bought car 5/5/16. Noticed I'm filling tank far too often. Calculated fuel used ÷ mileage and came up with 19 mpg, 22 mpg and 20 mpg combined mpg on 3 tanks of gas! Car is supposed to get 29 mpg combined. It's not even close. I took it in twice to two VW dealerships (kearny mesa and city) both lied and told me car is getting 26 mpg and 27 mpg. It is not!!!! Management told me there's nothing they can do so I'm now working with the DA and a lemon law attorney. It's unbelievable a Passat gets gas mileage worse than just about any car on the market. I would have to say the service staff kept me well informed as well as a positive atmosphere in their department. Steve and the other service writers are always ready to jump in and help. On another note, about 3 hours after taking my car back from them, Steve Harveston gave me a call to see if everything was good with my car. I feel that this is well above the highest standard for customer service and gives the customer a peace of mind.

I have only had one car, a 2004 Beetle that my parents gave to me when I turned sixteen. Since I had already had a VW Beetle for almost 10 years, I wanted ANYTHING other than that car - or so I though. I went to a couple different dealership (not Volkswagen) and I could tell that they were fully annoyed by the fact that I did know exactly what I wanted, what my budget was and what features I was looking for. All I kept thinking about was how pleasant all of my interactions with VW (multiple locations in San Diego, CA and Dallas, TX) had been over the last 10 years, and that's what brought me to VW Kearny Mesa. Right when we pulled into the lot, Fernando was there to greet us. He was awesome and really understanding of the fact that I didn't really know what car I was there to purchase. All I knew was that I wanted a white car with beige interior, so he showed us all of the cars with that color combo in their lot explaining all of the differences in models and trims. From there we were teamed up with Dago. At this point I still wasn't sure of what I wanted, until Dago suggested the 2014 Convertible Beetle white with beige leather interior in the showroom. As much as I said I didn't want another Bug, Dago could tell that this was my car. He did an exceptional job of showcasing this car and all of its great/new features, so much so that I actually WANTED to test drive it and once I did - I feel in love! Being a first time buyer I really had no idea how the application and actual sales process would be. DAGO WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - he made me feel at ease in a situation that was very uncomfortable for me. Josh Irvine also made the process exception - they are both Miracle workers 🙂 All in all, every single person I spoke with during this two day process was incredibly helpful and such a pleasure to work with. I never felt like I was being pressured into anything that I didn't want and they all helped me find something that truly fits my personality, lifestyle and budget. This place was terrible. We had been looking for a particular VW for a couple of months and had emailed this place. Wendy Tran responded with prefabricated emails unrelated to the questions I had asked. So I figured I wouldn't judge the place on the internet sales department. So one day I got off of work a little bit early to look at the car we were interested in. I walked in that spoke with the receptionist who was decently nice. I told her that I wanted to look at a particular car and she got one of the sales guys. He said he could help, and that he was the sales manager, but when we were walking out to go look at the car he passed one of his sales guys and asked if he was busy and the guys said not at this moment. So I then explained to this guy what I was looking for and he fumbled for a little but then was able to eventually locate the vehicle. He asked if I wanted to take it for a test drive, but I told him that I didn't have a whole lot of time and that the car was for my fiancé so I would want her to drive it. He said that is alright, you can drive it to see how you like it and we can schedule a time when she can come down too. So I agreed and took the car for a test drive. That was all good but then when we got back he told me he had another appointment and then he passed me off to another salesman. So I then had to explain again what I was looking for all over again to a third person, and that I had a limited time. He wanted to run some quick numbers and disappears for a couple of minutes and I had to leave so I tracked him down to let him know that I had to leave and asked if we could schedule something for Sunday. The finance guy was pretty rude and then tried to play it off all nice saying he wished we had more time. I then had to explain the whole situation to him and asked that he call me back to schedule a time when we both had more time. I never heard anything back from them. Still being in the market for the car two weeks later, and the car still being available, we figured we would give them a second chance. This time my fiancé was available and we had plenty of time. We called ahead to schedule an appointment with Tony who was listed as the TrueCar representative. When we got there Tony was busy so they had another salesman help us. He was a nice guy and promptly got the keys and drove it around front to take it for a test drive. My fiancé drove it and then we decided to go inside to work out the details. We had a TrueCar quote and the salesman informed us that it would be pretty straight forward. He then went to make a file and I informed him that I had been here before and already drove the car. He went to look for it and informed me that he couldn’t find it so he would need to make a new copy of my driver’s license. I said that was fine and he took some basic information and went to go talk with the finance people, and this is when things went really bad. The one finance guy came out and told us that we needed to finance the car with them for at least 90 days to get the price that they guaranteed with TrueCar. When I told him that I didn’t see anything like that on the TrueCar guarantee he told me you wouldn’t find anything like that on the documentation and that was their own policy. He then walked away and we talked with the salesman for a little bit. Then another finance representative came by telling us about it being an option contract and the dealer could set things as they see fit. I asked about the TrueCare quote and the need to finance with them for 90 days and he said that wasn’t true, totally contradicting the other finance guy. I told him that is not what the other guys said and he went on about there being a contracts option. I told him we had financing and did need that and if they would be able to provide us with a quote. For the best part, after having been there for two hours, for the second time and numerous emails, the guys tells me, “Do you even really want to buy the car? You don’t have to buy the car, you can just leave. I can give the address of another TrueCar dealer if you want.” After that very rude comment, I responded with, “No, I just spend a lot of time researching and a couple of hours in this dealership for fun.” At this point we were pretty upset. The salesman was really nice and tried to smooth things over. He said he would work with the finance guys to try and get a number while we went outside to get some fresh air. The salesman came outside after about 10 minutes with a base price higher than the TrueCar quote with the only option being financing 100% of the car with them. I told the salesman thanks for trying, and then we left very disappointed with the whole experience.

Went in to look at a 2011 VW Jetta with 15,000 miles advertised online. They couldn't find it due to one of their sales reps putting it up online the wrong way. After waiting about 30 minutes they found it, saying that it could not be test driven until it was through their inspection process (which takes about 30 mins they said). So, I told them I was going to get dinner, then I'd be back to test drive the car. When I returned, they were already in the process of selling it to another buyer. This dealership has been nothing but a waste of time and a hassle. Not to mention the salesman (Phillip Greene) I was talking to basically seemed like this was his first time showing and selling a car. It seemed as though he had no idea what he was doing. I have bought 5 cars in my lifetime, and this was my worst experience so far.

Roman Lopez and the VW Kearny Mesa dealership inspired me to comment. The staff made me feel very welcome and were extremely friendly. Mr. Lopez was a huge factor in my return use of the dealership as opposed to the mechanic down the road. They were keen on granting me discounts for services rendered and am planning on using them in the future.

"The" Best New Car Sales Experience When selecting my new car, I wanted a vehicle that is safe, reliable, stylish, and high-quality. And I wanted a brand that I can be loyal to in the future. I found all those qualities with the acquisition of my 2013 Volkswagen CC Sport at Kearny Mesa Volkswagen. I made my first new car purchase in the 1970s, and have bought or leased many cars since then. In making those new car decisions over the years, I worked with many dealerships. I am pleased to say that Kearny Mesa VW is the best experience I have ever had with a car dealer. The credit for my positive review goes to Tony Cavaliere, the representative who helped me select just the right vehicle. Tony listened to every word I said, and when I described what I wanted, he confirmed every detail, and identified a vehicle that I am now thrilled to call my own. Tony Cavaliere and Kearny Mesa VW have set the bar high for customer sales, service, and appreciation. Tony personalized the selection process as though he was buying a car for himself or a family member. What impressed me was his integrity and candor about everything having to do with the vehicles I considered, including cost/financing, performance, options, and other factors, without trying to embellish anything. Tony is a real professional who took time to understand my wishes, and help me through the decision process at my own pace. There was never any pressure from Tony at any time during the sales experience – a refreshing change from my past car-buying experiences. I have been going to Kearny Mesa VW since they opened. I have an old golf, and my car has unfortunately had to take quite a few trips to the 'shop'---so I have gotten to know a bunch of the folks there, and have found everyone to be great! Kathy is my service gal, and she has been/is wonderful. Service at the dealer as everyone knows isn't cheap, but hey they are the V-Dub experts. Kathy has been gracious and sympathetic when I've been bummed out about yet another bill, which I very much appreciate! (She also hinted that maybe it's time for a new car and I finally took her advice!) Chris Patterson is the Service Manager. He's a nice guy, and I like taking my car to a place where the SM has an honest looking face and looks like a good person. It's kind of comforting and reassuring. Each time I had to take my car in I got shuttle service or a loaner car. The shuttle people are always personable. Edgar who now works in service had been my driver a few times, and he's very amiable. I think it's a good reflection on not only him but the dealership that they promoted him! *So finally 'bit the bullet' and bought a new GTI a couple of days ago. Marisol was my saleswoman. I am THRILLED to have work with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was amazing throughout the whole process,test driving a bunch of cars, negotiating prices (under the auspices of salesmanager JR), buying it, explaining features of my new car...A relatively seamless process. Marisol wasn't 'high pressure; but calm, knowledgeable, and patient. She made it a very positive experience! She's also in general seems like an easygoing & cool person. I HIGHLY recommend Marisol if you are interested in buying a new VW!!! I have met other Salesman there; Eric is very personable and is the consummate VW expert! Pedro is another and you will find him muy amable and charming! Mindy the finance gal also is friendly and professional. All in all like everyone I've met there!

My 1988 VW Cabriolet had a catastrophic failure of the steering wheel bearing, with some electrical and tune up needs. Most VW dealers just don't have techs that know or want to work on a car this old. Herman Cook VW told me to go away. Turns out VW Kearny Mesa does like to work on A1 VW. Although the parts were VERY hard to find Roman and the tech made it happen. I was a big fan of Miramar VW and sad to see them close. VW Kearny Mesa is my new dealer!

Edgar and Kathy were awesome. Edgar listened to my concerns and everything is top-notch. Kathy kept me informed and made suggestions that I declined at the time, but appreciate the enthusiasm to do a job correct the first time. The free loaner (brand new c c) was a very unexpected yet welcomed surprise. I didn`t even think to ask even though it was offered as I was mulling the thought!
